The Future of Wildlife Starts Here

Hi, I’m Shreeya — a high school junior with a deep passion for animals, science, and the wild world around us. I aspire to become a wildlife veterinarian, a career that allows me to care for animals while also protecting the ecosystems they live in.

My Story

Where my purpose took root

I was born and raised in India and moved to Florida, USA, in 2016. Growing up, I was always surrounded by animals — from the strays roaming the streets of Pune to the birds I observed from my backyard. But I’ll be honest: becoming a vet wasn’t always the plan. What I did know was that I wanted to make a difference. I’ve always believed that my life’s purpose is to contribute meaningfully to the world, and for me, that purpose is deeply rooted in biology and animal care.

My love for animals began early — so much so that I became vegetarian as a child because I couldn’t justify eating the same animals I adored. When people asked why, I’d simply say: “Would you kill and eat someone or something you love?”

That belief led me here, to Vet-O-Scope — a blog where I share my journey toward becoming a wildlife veterinarian. From volunteering at animal hospitals and zoos to learning about biology, zoology, and global wildlife issues, I hope this space can raise awareness, offer insight, and spark conversations with others who care deeply about animals.

Outside of school and science, I spend time with friends and family, dive into creative outlets like sketching and painting, binge-watch documentaries and movies, and read a lot. I’m also focused on growing my leadership skills and staying curious about the world around me.

Thank you for visiting my tiny corner of the internet! I’d love for you to follow along, leave a comment, or reach out with your own animal stories and questions.

Sneak Peak

Behind the Name

Why Did I Choose This Name?

The original name of the website was going to be “VetScope.“ Vet, short for veterinary, and “Scope” was a play of words for stethoscope (an instrument used by vets) and scope as in to investigate/learn more about. I thought that this fit my idea for the website perfectly, but I changed it was already in use, so I landed on the alternative, Vet-O-Scope.

Meaning Behind the Logo

I have two logos for the site. One is the detailed version shown at the top of the website with the name and a couple of animals. The other is a more broad version, with a hand lens zooming in on a deer silhouette. This is the logo used as a favicon.I think both of these logos support the two meanings behind the website perfectly.

Mission Statement
